To Love Ourselves Before Asking Others to Love Us
Finding love gets complicated with age, maturity and being independent makes it more complicated. People may have crushes on somebody but in reality, sometimes they cannot live with that person cause they see crushes and enjoy their presence from far.
Why this happens? "Love is a temporary madness, it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides." It is not magical, we will have to make it magical. With age, that magic fades. Life’s magic fades, too. Of course, how much the magic fades depends on the person. And because true magic doesn’t exist, the kind of magic we are familiar with, happens when we accept the answer to life is not knowing the answer.
So there must be more to the equation. And there is. In order to fall in love, we need to feel that we need and deserve to be loved. Because if we don’t believe/need or deserve love, we will reject it whether consciously or subconsciously.
Love isn’t magical on its own. We make it magical. As my brother once told me to learn to love ourselves before asking others to love us. In this world, there are things we can only do alone and things we can do only with somebody else. It is important to combine the two in just the right amount and with the right person at the right time.
Someday this will all make sense.
Let go, let flow. It will land somewhere. Just enjoy the drift.
